2005-11-02: NetBSD 2.1 released
NetBSD 2.1, the first maintenance release of the netbsd-2 release branch, has been released with binary distributions for 48 architectures. More information is available in the 2.1 release announcement.

December 2000
2000-12-06: NetBSD 1.5 released
NetBSD 1.5 released with support for 20 architectures. More information is available in the 1.5 release announcement.


July 2000
2000-07-15: Progress on Dreamcast port
The port of the NetBSD operating system to Sega's Dreamcast game console is reaching a state where it's near to single user mode. Utilizing the NetBSD/evbsh3 port's simple structure and the fact that it supports both big and little endian architectures as well as the general clean design of the NetBSD operating system helped for this port. Device drivers for the game pad, keyboard etc. are next on the todo-list of Saitoh Masanobu, who works on this port.

April 2000
2000-04-14: gdb support
gdb is available. A single step isn't supported yet.

February 2000
2000-02-25: "Interface" magazine from CQ publishing
April 2000 issue of "Interface" magazine has several articles on NetBSD/sh3.

2000-02-24: SH4 support
SH4 support was contributed from Brains.

December 1999
1999-12-31: Binary snapshot available
1.4.1 Binary snapshot is available for the following configuration:
    ${MACHINE} == evbsh3
    base on 1.4.1 (not -current)
    coff
    
1999-12-31: GNU toolchain fixes
sh3 big/little endian fixes to GNU toolchain is available. See this announcement for more details.

1999-11-15: Start merging
mmEye (webcam with NetBSD/sh3) was demonstrated at Comdex NetBSD booth.

September 1999
1999-09-13: Start merging
Start merging NetBSD/sh3 tree into NetBSD CVS repository.

February 1999
1999-02: Start cleanup
Brains kindly made their NetBSD/sh3 diffs publically available. It was based on NetBSD-1.3.1. NetBSD-current synchronization and cleanup project was started and local repository was made.
