About NetBSD/playstation2NetBSD/playstation2 is a port of NetBSD to the SONY PlayStation 2. This port has been removed from the source tree, since newer NetBSD versions require a gcc 4.x based toolchain, and the original modifications done for the playstation 2 have never been integrated into gcc nor binutils mainline. There is still some hope, check the Linux progress at Linux 2.6 on PS2 discussion for progress on the toolchain. If a working toolchain does ever happen, the port may even be freed from the Sony HAL, see PS2 Kernel Loader page. This needs changes to the low level playstation 2 specific code. To boot the kernel, you will require a special boot disc from SONY. The PlayStation 2 can not read CD-R/DVD-Rs. Currently, the only such disc available is the SONY Playstation 2 Linux distribution. This kit is now available worldwide. For more information, visit the official PlayStation 2 Linux site. The PS2 Linux Japanese site is also of interest. NetBSD/playstation2 News
