Title: NetBSD/alpha

NetBSD/alpha

About NetBSD/alpha

NetBSD/alpha is a true 64-bit system that fully implements the LP64 architecture, using 64-bit pointers and 64-bit long integers (standard integers are still 32 bits) in a linear four terabyte (4TB) address space. NetBSD/alpha was the first free OS to run on the Alpha and supports by far the largest number of alpha system types of any free OS.

Development activity on NetBSD/alpha continues at an intense pace. Support for no less than six system types covering about twelve different model numbers has been added in the first half of 1998. NetBSD runs on most of the common desktop systems and also on some of the more unusual systems such as the large-scale 8400, all of the TURBOchannel systems, and on the 4100 series.

Easily installed binary distributions of NetBSD/alpha are available for the recent 1.4 release and for snapshots of the development branch.
